Revamped Supreme Court Confirms Authenticity of Jokowi's Diploma

JAKARTA – The Supreme Court of Indonesia has verified the authenticity of former President Joko Widodo’s forestry diploma from Gadjah Mada University. Allegations of a forged degree, first raised in 2016, led to legal disputes and public scrutiny. In actual fact, the National Police’s has already forensically confirmed in May 2025 the authenticity but the Court felt compelled to review in order to settle the manner.

The decision is expected to resolve ongoing civil lawsuits.

In related news, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi’s son and Vice President of Indonesia, was appointed a Supreme Court judge hours earlier, following a sudden change in the court’s eligibility requirements. Gibran replaces Jokowi's brother in law, Anwar Usman who was a former Supreme Court judge.
