CANGGU, BALI - In a surprising twist in global diplomacy, Russians and Ukrainians have reportedly begun informal peace talks in Canggu. The Indonesian government, in a strategic diplomatic move, helped facilitate the dialogue, and as one official puts it, “It turns out Canggu might be the only place where Russians and Ukrainians can meet, talk, and even become friends.”
After a highly publicized meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump, apparently inspired by the peaceful coexistence of Russian and Ukrainian digital nomads in Bali, declared Canggu “the most diplomatic place on Earth, way more chill than Geneva.”
“It turns out Canggu might be the only place where Russians and Ukrainians can meet, talk, and even become friends.”
One Ukrainian delegate was overheard saying, “We can’t agree on borders, but we both enjoy Batu Bolong beach.” A Russian expat nodded, adding, “And we both like launching crypto startups.”
They had hoped to continue discussions over dinner at a Russian restaurant, but ultimately agreed a 6 a.m. breakfast was better, before Canggu’s infamous traffic appeared soon.
